Day 21 
Drove only 15 miles today. We decided to get a room at the harbor in Summerside. The forecast was for thunderstorms, which did develop. We thought it would be nice to spend a nice day walking around and enjoying the local atmosphere. It's Lobster Carnival here, so there were lots of things going on. There was a guy juggling knives and torches. Yikes!! Then they had cardboard and duct tape boat races. Later in the evening, there was live music.

The harbor has a 6-mile boardwalk that winds around restaurants and shops. Very relaxing day!

Day 20 July 6
I am losing track of the days! Today we got off the ferry at North Sydney, Nova Scotia at 7 A.M. and still drove 400 miles. Left Newfoundland, drove through Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and ended at Prince Edward Island.
The weather was cool and very foggy for about 30 miles from the ferry dock, but after that it warmed up and turned sunny. We stopped at an information center at Port Hawkesberry and found that the Bay of Fundy tide was coming in at a good time for us. If we kept going, we could see the low tide and the increase. The Bay of Fundy has the most dramatic and highest tides in the world.
I had learned earlier that a couple of companies offer a zodiac trip where you can ride the tidal bore! We got there in time and I went. It was a blast! Note the boots (great fashion statement in the mud). There's a great video on you tube if you search for "ride the tidal bore bay of fundy."
From there we drove to Prince Edward Island and got a motel in Summerside. Beautiful town, and it happens to be their Lobster Carnival!

The Confederation Bridge is over nine miles long. There is no charge to go to PEI, but it costs $17.75 for a motorcycle to get off the island.

Day 19  July 5
Drove 10 miles to the ferry dock. Visited with Jackie and Marg. They were so nice! Their campsite is within site of the dock (if the fog there ever lifts!)
 Lined up, waited two hours to load. Met lots of nice bikers.
Dennis decided to make an "adventure" out of the ride, so this is how we enjoyed the 15 hour ferry crossing until 7 A.M.

Guess he knows how to make a memorable trip!

Day 18 -   Happy Fourth of July!!
St. John's to Placentia
Rode the "Irish Loop" today.  Took a wrong turn and stopped at a Tim Horton's. I asked the guy behind me in line how to get where we wanted to go. He said he was going that way, so he led us to the right place. That's Newfoundland!
Weather started out sunny and warm, then changed about every five minutes the rest of the day. It seemed whenever we got near the shore, the fog was there to greet us!
We saw a big moose. She was walking along in a huge clearing about 300 yards from us, giving time to take photos.
Saw an amphibcar at a gas station. It can drive on the road like a car, or in the water like a boat! We saw a photo of people fishing from it.
We ended the day at Placentia, where we met a friend and her husband who Dennis plays cards with online. She had prepared fish for us for supper!  She had also called to reserve a room in town. We will visit her again before we get to the ferry.
The plan is to ride the ferry tomorrow all night. The ferry's been out of service for a week now, and we are hoping we don't have to drive 500 miles back to Port Aux Basques to catch a ferry there.

Day 17 Gander to St. John's
Drove 315 miles today. Weather was cool and overcast - good for us.
We started the day at the North Atlantic Aviation Museum at Gander. It had a very moving section on 911, when about 7,000 people in airlines were diverted there after the attack. It also had a segment on the crash of the 101st Airborn plane in 1985. Americans were returning from service in Egypt, refueled there, and crashed just after takeoff. All 256 aboard died.  The young man working at the desk noticed our interest, and told us there is a memorial at the site. He offered to show us the way, since it is not well-marked. His boss agreed, and he jumped in his car and showed us where it is. Nice people!
From there, we headed toward St. John's. As we left Gander, I saw a large female moose right on the opposite shoulder of the road. No camera, no time for a photo.
We stopped in a tiny village called Trouty, near Trinity Bay, to meet a woman (Heidi Oberg-Anderson) from the Duluth, Minnesota area. She is a sister-in-law to the nurse practitioner that Dennis sees in Duluth. Had tea and visited for an hour.
Continued on all the way into St. John's. It was getting a bit late, and all the motels on the highway were full, so we ended up at a lovely B&B in historic downtown St. John's. The house was built in 1883. Walked a few blocks to a nice spot for dinner.

Day 16
Lewisporte to Gander through Twillingate
Drove 145 miles today. Got a late start. The motorcycle had an electrical failure. The battery cable came loose, so the owner of the B&B helped Dennis fix that and caulked around the taillight of the trailer to stop a leak. That was SO nice!
Great weather again until late afternoon storms started to gather.
We drove to a small village called Twillingate which has a great lighthouse and spectacular views. Wish you could see the scale from the photo. The lighthouse park had a Titanic exhibit for the 100th anniversary of the tragedy. Was very interesting.
Then we drove on to Gander and got a room. They have an aviation museum here that we plan to see tomorrow.

Day 15
Cow Head to Lewisport  
Drove 245 miles today. Left the coast and drove through the mountains again (they border lots of bays). Absolutely stunning. At one rest stop, a couple asked if they could take OUR picture with the bike. Too funny!
We stopped at an information center and met a guy named John who was carving fairy houses out of cottonwood bark. Sound familiar?
The weather was great until late afternoon. We planned to drive to Twillingate, but cut the day short at Lewisporte as thunderstorms were imminent. Found a small B&B where the owner made room in his garage for the bike and trailer. Made Dennis VERY happy.
